So yes... there is a fighting style for how you play... Watching those PK videos... I have seen the difference of styles... And I now understand which is which.
Pures - A player that has focused thier levels on one thing mainly (for example: Mage, Warrior, Ranger)
Hybrid or Mixed - A player that has not focused thier levels on one thing only
A pure Warrior would have a high strength, and attack
A pure Mage would have high magic and low strength, attack, and defence
A pure ranger would have high range and defense, and low strength and attack
Why would a pure be a more efficent killing machine? Lemme give you the lowdown...
One way the pures are better at killing is, if you raise all of your stats... you tend to raise your overall combat level real quick... now this may seem like a good thing... but not entirely... it may look cool... but don't go out in full rune or chances are, you'll loose it to a pure.
Here's a scenario... I go out into the wildy and I'm wielding rune long with stats of 45 attack, 46 defence, 46 strength, 2 ranged, 34 mage, 37 prayer (yes prayer raises your combat level). This will make my total combat level 57. My max hit will be 12.
Now I get attacked by someone the same level as I am, but is a pure warrior. His or her stats are: 63 Attack, 40 defence, 64 strength, 1 ranged, 1 mage, 1 prayer. This will allow him/her to completely own me giving them a max hit at 15 using a rune long and using aggressive stance (and given the right equipment up to 28 max hit)
Fighting monsters is a different story here. Having a hybrid is to your advantage because you will be able to use all of the stats you have.

hello i've been readin your post for a few days now and i noticed this post and i wasnt sure if you trully understand how combat level works ...
here it is: you can be a pure warrior, pure mage, pure ranger OR Hybrid: warroir (str and def), mage or ranger.
As you said if you are a pure you only concentrate on 1 stat... but the main aim of a pure is to get high hp and low combat lvl
Lets say you are a pure warrior (str) lets say you have 41 atk, 1 def, 52 str, 44 hp, prayer 1, mage 1 and range 1 your lvl is 41 you can still raise your mage and range lvls by a lot without gaining any lvls as you are a pure warrior (str) and if you raise any combat lvls it will be because your hp lvl raised which is what you want to achieve...
What really makes you raise combat lvl is def and hp lvls (always).
MAGE: if you are a pure mage with high mage lvl you can always raise range atack and strenght lvls without raising combat lvl.
WARRIOR: if you are pure warrior (str or def) with high atack strenght and (or) defence you can always raise mage and range lvls without raising combat lvl.
RANGER: if you are a pure ranger with high range lvl you can raise strenght atack and mage lvls without raising any combat lvls.
Prayer always count towards combat lvl but it doesnt raise it as much as other lvls. Note: with prayer lvl 53 your combat lvl only raises 6-7 lvls more than if you have prayer lvl 1.
This will maybe make you look more into what a pure is and in which way it is better.
Keep up with the good work Tom.
